Day 5, Thu Oct 21, 2021
Thu, Oct 21, 2021
Today's plan is a trip to Savannah GA.
Our first stop is the Visitor's Center.
Here's the map of the location of the Visitor's Center.
I will use this map to show the highlights of our day...
The Visitor's Center was a great first stop. We received some very helpful information and will begin our guided tour.
I liked this mural of the original train station which is where the visitor center now stands.
This is the tour bus company we took. Our tour guide was very informative, unfortunately I didn't get any pictures inside or outside the bus.
After our tour, we walked downtown by the River Walk and had lunch at Lady and Sons, a restaurant owned by Paula Deen, a famous southern chef.
Here's the map highlighting the location of the restaurant.
The restaurant was on the corner and had three floors to serve its patrons.
Our server, Cedric, was kind enough to let us take his picture.
After lunch we went to the River Walk. Here's the map...
And here's the picture I took of Jan on the River Walk with the Talmadge Memorial Bridge in the background.
Now it's off to the Cathedral Basilica of Saint John The Baptist Catholic Church.
Our tour guide is a member of this church.
First, the map...
Here's the inside of the church...
A 360 degree view of the church sanctuary
Duration: 00:00:18 sec.
Next stop: Forsyth Park and the Forsyth Fountain.
But first, the map...
We found someone to take our photo...
I walked a bit farther south and looked back at the fountain and took this photo.
We also stopped at this shop in downtown Savannah, but I lost the picture I took in front of the shop eating a gelato.
Driving back from Savannah...
End of Day 3 (minus the travel days)
